Our Story.
Jean Pierre Trou and Aaron Vollmer have known each other for more than 15 years. They co-founded Runa Workshop, an award-winning architecture firm in Austin, TX. Jean Pierre came up with the idea when discussing with his wife - the Director of Marketing at KUNGFU.AI, an AI service company - how Runa can remain competitive in the future when AI will completely disrupt the AEC industry. He realized most of the focus of AI in architecture is oriented towards generative design. Then he had the aha moment. He identified not only an overlooked area in the industry, but a challenge he and every AEC company faces daily, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC).
“I realized that if we optimize the review process, from internal quality control, consultant coordination to code review, we can save tremendous amounts of time & money, increase our quality of services and reduce our risk exposure. Instead of spending a week reviewing a complete set of drawings, I can schedule more meetings with potential clients, dedicate more time to projects and creative design work, and provide more value to the firm and our clients,” he said.
He then reached out to two of the co-founders of KUNGFU.AI, Stephen Straus and Ron Green, an AI expert with 30 years of experience. He pitched the idea to them and to Aaron, and when Ron confirmed the idea was feasible, mbue was born.
